Horsley Herald Term 2 Week 5
As our school gates opened on Monday 25 May 2020 for our first day of return to full time face-to-face learning this term, it was wonderful to see so many students arrive at school ready to learn.
There really is no place like school.
School is where your child can achieve outcomes in learning, be supported to understand concepts taught, be challenged to reach their potential and connect with teachers and their friends.
At Horsley Park Public School students will once again:
- be in class learning directly with their teacher
- be able to access the school library
- engage in non-contact physical activity, games and sport; and
- play and socialise at recess and lunch
We are updating our school morning and afternoon 'drop off' and 'pick up' procedures for next week.
The NSW School Updates app allows parents and carers to receive operational status updates for NSW public schools.
The app will complement the other means of communication available to parents and carers from schools and the Department of Education to ensure families receive timely, accurate information in a crisis.
The app is free and available now for iOS and Android users.
The Department has recently provided advice for changes to Semester One student reports. Schools will be required to provide a simplified written report to parents/carers about students’ learning in Semester One. Principals have the flexibility to develop a new simplified report, which is being encouraged by the Department. Reporting to parents/carers will focus on the learning that has taken place so far this year. This will encapsulate students’ progress and achievement of the learning provided both at school and at home. The grading of students using the five point A-E scale is not required. More information on Semester One reports will be forthcoming later this school term.
Hello families!
So excited to share with you a short blurb about my role at Horsley Park PS. I am lucky to be team teaching with Ms Khoo on wonderful K-6 Fern, as well as continuing to fulfil the Instructional Leader role two days a week. Since 2017, I have worked in partnership with teachers, observing students’ learning, and working together on how to best implement programs that support students’ development of Literacy and Numeracy skills. I enjoy being in classes, collaborating with teachers and learning from the students themselves: they hold the key to unleashing their own potential. I often say to them ‘you are becoming your own teacher!’. I feel grateful to be at Horsley Park PS, being part of a warm and thriving community
Miss Ferrari

Welcome back to school ! Congratulations to all student’s for showing diligence and resilience while learning from home this term. As students have started returning to school, for PBL we have been focusing on good personal hygiene both in the classroom and on the playground. Remember: we must wash our hands to keep the germs away! Keep it up, Horsley Park Public School!
Hope all the students and parents are doing well. Great to see all the happy students, returning back to school. Can’t wait till we can all be back, so we can start working with teachers help create a fun learning environment again.
