Horsley Herald Term 2 Week 7
Dear Parents/Carers,
Winter has hit. The colder weather has resulted in increased sickness in students and staff. We encourage students to stay home if sick to minimise the spread of influenza and other illnesses. Don't forget to inform your child's teacher if they are ill or send a doctor's certificate to the office to explain the absence.
Asset update
Classroom painting is almost complete and our school is looking fantastic as a result. We have been working hard behind the scenes with the contractors to minimise disruptions and prepare our students around these scheduled works.
Automatic gates are due for commissioning on the 25th July. At that point we will release further details around gate access for our community. Until then normal operations are in place. This prompts a timely reminder to our Kiss and Drop procedures to ensure student safety.
Kiss and Drop-Understanding our Procedures
Children are monitored inside the pedestrian gate and allowed to leave the premises when the staff member identifies the family car in the kiss and drop zone.
Our Kiss and Drop zone is designed for your child’s safety and your convenience. Designed for quick entry and exit, the zone minimises congestion and risk when used properly by all parents and carers. The zone operates under the same conditions as no parking zones, which means you may stop to drop off or pick up children for a maximum of 2 minutes. You're required to remain in, or within 3 metres of, your vehicle. The zone operates as a Kiss and Drop zone 8.00 – 9.30am and 2.30-4.00pm.
Morning Drop Off-8:45-9:15am
- Parent/carer drives into zone and moves to the most forward position
- Student takes off seatbelt and exits the car using the safety door
- Student walks to school gate independently
- Parent exits Kiss and Drop zone safely. Please do not park in this area. 2 minute limit applies.
Pedestrian gate closes at 9:15am. If you arrive late to school, you will need to park and proceed to Horsley Drive pedestrian gate to sign your child in/receive a late note.
Afternoon Pick Up – 3.00pm
- Staff members walk students to pick up area inside school fence
- Students are allocated to numbered positions (1, 2, 3) supervised by a staff member on the footpath
- Parent drives to pick up zone. (The most forward position guided by staff member). There are 3 positions in the pick up bay. Child MUST enter vehicle from Kerb side.
Cars exit Kiss and Drop in the order of arrival. ie. no car leaves before the car in first position exits the Kiss and Drop area.
Our Kiss and Drop zone needs your cooperation to ensure every child’s safety. Please stay in sequence, no u-turns or double parking and please remain in your vehicle in the pick up line.
Further information for parents and members of the school community on keeping students safe can be found here.
Save the Date: Parent-teacher interviews
Parent-teacher interviews will be held this term during weeks 9 and 10. Online bookings will be made available in the next week. If you cannot attend on the day allocated, please see your child's classroom teacher to arrange an alternative day and time.
Finally
As previously informed the school has moved to the new SchoolBytes finance system. The school will use the parent portal for various things including online permission notes and payments via a secure link. The Schoolbytes parent portal lets you view all your childrenin one portal and process payments for multiple siblings in one transaction.
Details are in the from the office section in this edition of the newsletter.
Until next time,
Tracy Sweeney
