Horsley Herald Term 1 Week 3
Dear Parents/Carers,
What a start we have had to the beginning of term 2. Lots happening at Horsley on all fronts! From our Anzac services to our Mother's day breakfast with cross country and Activate inclusion sports days in between, we have been busy. You can keep up to date and see photos of these events on our Facebook page.
UPGRADES
Lots of work is happening at the moment around our school grounds. Our automatic gates and fencing to ensure safety within the school grounds will be finished in the next couple of weeks as will the painting of external buildings and some internal parts of the school. Carpeting and vinyl work is also taking place throughout some of our classrooms.
Last year, our school won first prize at the Waste to Art competition and one of the many prizes included 100 trees from the Community Nursery. Mr Tinker, our GA has plans for upgrading gardens this year.
Mrs Tanevski was successful in a grant application of 25K! The project description: a protective and safe shelter from the elements to the school's entry and exit area (kiss and drop zone). We have now submitted plans to school infrastructure so we will keep you informed about progress on this project.
SCHOOLBYTES
Our school transitioned to an upgraded finance system this week.
The School Bytes portal is now available for you to register and begin using https://portal.schoolbytes.education
What is the School Bytes portal
The School Bytes portal provides flexibility for you to conveniently:
- make school payments online (including paying for multiple siblings at once)
- use a family credit to pay for an activity or school contributions
- complete and submit digital permission notes
- view the status of all permission notes
- request a refund if required.
This can be done where you want at any time: day or night.
Through the portal, you will easily be able to download a receipt once a payment has been made and have access to view all historical payments when needed. Online payments are processed in real-time and can be viewed by school staff immediately.
While our preference is for payments to be made via the portal, we will still accept payment via cash and EFTPOS.
For detailed instructions on setting up your parent portal account can be accessed via the QR code in office news section below.
SEESAW
Thank you to the families who took the time to read and complete our communication feedback form and expressed interest and consented to the return of Seesaw to further support home school partnerships and communication. Information around reintroduction will come out to those families who requested this platform next week.
SZApp will continue for all families for whole school level communication.
FIRST NATIONS ARTIST VISIT
This week a group of students across all grades had the opportunity to work with Michael Fardon, local artist, to design a school shirt that conveys a story about the land we learn on and is uniquely Horsley. Our students did an amazing job and Michael was very impressed with their talents. We looking forward to sharing the design with you when complete.
SCHOOL LEADERS AND HOUSE CAPTAINS
We inducted our 2023 Student Leadership Team and House captains last week. Congratulations to all! Being peer nominated and elected is an honour your children should be proud of. We look forward to seeing the work they do as leaders this year..
