Horsley Herald Term 1 Week 11
Dear Parents/Carers,
We have reached the end of the term and I would like to thank you all for your generous donations towards our Easter raffle and supporting the year 6 fundraising initiatives this week. As we head into the holidays and close out term 1, I would also like to acknowledge the hard work of all staff at Horsley who ensure your children are known, valued and cared for each and every day.
UPCOMING FENCING PROJECT
As previously communicated, we were expecting work on our perimeter fence to begin any day- and today was the day!. The purpose of this work is to provide perimeter safety and security to our school and between the playground and car park. This majority of the work should be completed during the school holidays (weather permitting) but may possibly extend through to the first week of our return to school. We will keep you updated via SZApp. This planned work did impact Kiss and Run on Walworth Drive this afternoon and quite possibly for a short period on our return. During this period, we will require you to park as you did today and pick up your children from gate A (gate closest to the canteen) in the afternoon. Entry to school during this period will also be via this gate. The pathway will not be impacted. Again, apologies for the inconvenience this has and may cause, hopefully the majority of the work will be completed these holidays.
SEESAW SURVEY
In order for us to make a decision around the reintroduction of Seesaw we need your thoughts. If you haven’t already sent in the communication @HPPS form, can you please do so day 1 term 2 (Wednesday 26th April). Additional forms were sent home this week to those we still require this information from.
CONGRATULATIONS
Last week Taliyah represented Horsley Zone at the SSW Primary girl’s hockey championships for a place in the SSW team to participate at the NSWPSSA championships. Taliyah was successful in being selected as part of the team and will compete at the state carnival in week 6 next term. We are very proud of this amazing sporting achievement Taliyah!
ATTENDANCE REPORTS
This week you would have received an attendance report that shows your child’s attendance for term one. The school attendance team has implemented this new initiative to support positive school attendance. We know that everyday counts, as regular attendance helps our students to: develop a sense of belonging, develop and maintain friendships, be more engaged at school and progress with their learning. As a school we are working towards our system negotiated target to increase the percentage of students attending >90% of the time. This term we had 55% of our students attend >90% of the time. We would love to see these numbers increase next term. I encourage all families to continue to work with the school in improving attendance and reach out for support if required.
ANZAC memorabilia
As a part of our service, we will be creating an ANZAC Day display. We ask that if any of our families have related photographs or other memorabilia and would like to share this with our community for the day, please send this in with your child early next term.
