Horsley Herald Term 2 Week 2
Welcome back to Term 2, and I hope you are all well.
The remote learning model recommenced on Wednesday 29th April similar to end of last term. Our school remains open for students who need to attend. Thank you for your understanding in helping our school manage the ‘phased return to school’ for students.
On Monday, 11th May, we will move into 'Phase One' of the managed return to school for students.
In this phase, all NSW students will attend school one day a week and learn from home 4 days per week. It is anticipated that all NSW students will increase the number of days at school before the end of term, under the advice of NSW Health. I've attached a document with more information regarding the managed return to school plan.
Phase 1 Model for Horsley Park PS
'Phase 1' back to school plan starts on Monday 11th May. Please follow this plan to ensure the safety of our staff, students and parents at Horsley Park PS.
Our staff will be in touch with you in the next few days via telephone to confirm days for the Phase 1 Model and to ensure that we continue to support all our student and their families.
If there are any issues where families require support please contact the school on 96201301 and we will resolve any issue.
Model of Learning
Students learning either at home or in school will engage in a single unit of work provided by their teachers.
The table below outlines the recommended time allocations for students participating in learning at school or at home. The time allocations are based on the New South Wales primary and secondary school syllabus requirements.
The suggested hours provide the basis for programming decisions and reflect the learning that will occur for students both at home and at school, acknowledging some students will continue to be learning from home throughout term two.
A focus on English and mathematics in primary school reflects the expectation that approximately 50% of the school week is devoted to these subjects.
If you or your child require assistance to access your child Google classroom, Seesaw or learning materials, please call the school and we can give you direct support.
I would like to sincerely acknowledge and thank the staff who have taken on board this new way of teaching for learning you truly are amazing.
Remote Learning tips
Just do what you can do. If it gets too hard do another activity. This is crisis learning. We understand that families are all trying to work in some capacity. The ABC has some great educational programs for kids. Have a set routine every day. Take brain breaks for some exercise and fresh air. If your child is not engaging in learning call the school and we will get back to you with support.
