School Improvement Plan 2021-2024 & Tell Them from Me Survey
I would like to thank all our parents who recently completed the Parent Tell Them From Me survey as this information will assist us in identifying future school directions.
All schools across NSW are beginning the process to develop a new school improvement plan for the next 4 years.
COVID -19 Updates
We are following NSW Health and Department guidelines to provide a safe learning environment for students and staff. We continue to:
- encourage students to attend school each day unless they are unwell or have a medical certificate for their absence.
- encourage students and staff with flu-like symptoms to be tested and provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom-free before being permitted to return to school,
- teach and remind students about good hygiene practices,
- encouraged parents / carers to ‘ Kiss and Drop’ each morning/afternoon - Walworth Rd Gate B
- minimise access to the school for parents / carers,
-
- dismiss students from 3:00pm to parents / carers from – Walworth Rd via Gate A
- encourage students to bring a water bottle each day.
- School assemblies must be limited to 15 minutes with no external visitors.
Any updates, will be communicated to families as soon as we are informed.
If your child is unwell with flu- like symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of taste, and loss of smell ) please seek medical advice. If your child is tested for COVID -19, please contact the school immediately, providing as many details as possible. Please isolate your child until you receive a negative result and they are well. You MUST provide proof of a negative result, before your child can return to school. You can email the pathology or doctor results, to the school or your child’s teacher.
If, after testing negative, your child has ongoing symptoms which persist beyond 10 days, you should arrange to see their doctor. The medical assessment should consider whether the symptoms are typical for that person (for example seasonal, allergic rhinitis), and provide documentation for the school if this is the case. If there are new symptoms at any time, the person should be tested again.
Activities that can now take place:
A modified Kindergarten Orientation Program, Year 6 Graduation and end of Year Presentation Assembly will take place, ensuring strict COVID safe plans are in place. Our Kindergarten 2021 families should be recieving information via mail this week, please look out for your fortnightly Kindergarten gift and activity for this fortnight.
Please keep updated via our schoolzine newsletters, SeeSaw and our offcial school Facebook page. You can call the office on 96201301 if you have any questions.
Did you know that our school is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) School ?
Naidoc Week
Naidoc Week Celebrations 2020 celebrations will be held from 8-15 November.
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities
and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
NAIDOC Theme 2020
Always Was. Always will Be.
The 2020 National NAIDOC Week theme has been developed to shine a focus on the length of Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander occupation of Australia. In our narratives Aboriginal people talk of continuous occupation of being here when time be- gan, we are part of the Dreaming – past, present and future. Anthropologists and archaeologists have dated our sites to being hundreds of thousands years old, in fact recording some of these sites as being the oldest on this planet.
Additionally, the NAIDOC theme seeks to get teachers, students and community to explore and learn about, and appreciate the wealth and breadth of Indigenous Nations, languages and knowledge of this continent. Exploring and learning about Indigenous understandings of the environment, plants, animals, greater astronomy and cosmology, waters, land use and protection, Indigenous sciences and maths.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We are currently coming to the end of a school planning cycle and evaluating the 2018-2020 school plan. We will then be designing a new 4 year School Improvement Plan.
Your feedback and ideas are vital to ensure that the new plan best meets the needs of our whole school community.
Please take 5 minutes to complete the two questions to have your say.

Kind communication is easier than you THINK!
We have all had times when we say something that we regret. It happens to us all. Mindfulness can help facilitate kind discussions that are effective in getting a point across and positive for all involved in the conversation.
The THINK mnemonic assists in reflecting on positive speech prior to speaking. These could help you decide whether you are practicing positive discussions and interactions with others.
Is it TRUE?
Is it HELPFUL?
What are the INTENTIONS and IMPACT?
Is it NECESSARY, NOW?
Is it KIND?

Make a difference.
Save your bread tags and send them to school.
Horsley Park Public School is supporting the Bread Tags for Wheelchairs initiative. Your bread tags will fund wheelchairs for disadvantaged people in South Africa.

P&C News
We are having a special lunch on Thursday the 26th of November so keep your eye out for a note to send orders back.
Christmas is under 9 weeks away!! We are now collecting donations for our Christmas raffle. If you are able to donate anything big or small, please get in contact with us.
Help needed!
Are you a business owner, bookkeeper, accountant or good with finances?
The P&C needs someone independent to volunteer a couple of hours of their time between now and February to review the transactions of the P&C and confirm the books are in order.
If you or someone you know might be able to help, please get in touch.
You can follow us on Facebook for regular updates - Horsley Park Public School P &. C Association.
Hi Horsley Park families,
4/5/6 Primrose have had a busy few weeks this term. Here is what some students have had to say about the events they have participated in.
Peer Support
In Peer Support we have been learning about friendship, being mindful of others and it has been a great time. We got to have some fun and got to get to know each other. We now are building better relationships with each other.
Rhys
So far in Peer Support we've been learning about how to have good friendships, how to be supportive and to be a kind friend. I believe Peer Support is a fun time for us all to learn how to have excellent relationships in life.
