Upcoming Term 4 Events
I would like to sincerley thank our students, parents, caregivers and school community for their patience, understanding, flexibility and support during what has been a challenging year. We understand the disappointment that our students and families have faced in 2020, as events have been cancelled to comply with policy and guidelines. Our students and families have shown not only resilience and maturity, but the ability to pull together during challenging times and support one another. For this we are truly grateful and proud.

Our teaching staff are amazing and I would like to acknowledge their dedication and commitment to their role in your children’s life. Our teachers are your child’s school family. They spend so much time with them every day. Your children are KNOWN, VALUED and CARED for by our school staff. All our teachers go above and beyond. I hope you will join with me in thanking them for their wonderful daily contributions, not only next Friday but every day. I am extremely lucky to have great teachers at Horsley Park PS.
Change to Staff Development Days 2021
In 2021 there has been a change to the calendar. Staff Development Days are pupil free days at school for staff to plan and undertake professional learning. The number of allocated days will remain the same but it has been decided to move one of them from the end of the year to the beginning.
Commencing at the start of 2021, the changes include:
an increase from one to two SDDs at the commencement of Term 1
a decrease from two to one SDDs at the end of Term 4.
The School Development Days are scheduled for the following dates:
27 and 28 January, students return 29 January 2021.
Students in years 1-6 will commence the new school year on Friday 29th January 2021. New Kindergarten start dates will be in the following week and will be confirmed soon.
Wishing all our wonderful parents/carers and most especially all our gorgeous grandparents. 'Happy Grandparents Day' for this weekend. You are all amazing.
Have a wonderful week

On Friday, 30th October 2020, Horsley Park Public School will be holding
Day for Daniel.
We encourage students to wear red clothing to school in exchange for a gold coin donation. All donations received will go directly to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. The Daniel Morcombe Foundation endeavours to provide free child safety initiatives to children and young people and supports young victims of crime.
On this day, teachers will be educating students about child protection, child safety and harm prevention. To find out more about child protection and safety, please see the website below.
When participating in mindfulness it is important to set an intention for your meditation practice. What is it you’d like to improve on or achieve? Think about areas in your life that you would like to grow in, such as kindness, openness or patience. Giving yourself the opportunity to reflect on these areas can help you grow which can benefit your wellbeing and your relationships with others.
Make a difference.
Save your bread tags and send them to school.
Horsley Park Public School is supporting the Bread Tags for Wheelchairs initiative. Your bread tags will fund wheelchairs for disadvantaged people in South Africa.

Welcome back to K/1 Orchid!
Term 4 has just begun and students in K/1 Orchid have jumped right back into their learning.
This Term, K/1 Orchid has started to learn about the Earth and the importance of its resources. Students are learning to recognise why and how we should care for the environment and our natural resources and finding ways use its resources responsibly.
K/1 Orchid has also started to delve deep into the world of coding. Students have been putting on their coding hats to program animations using Scratch, which is helping them develop their problem-solving skills.
Thank you for visiting our class and we look forward to seeing you again next time!
Have an amazing week,
Mr Obeid
