Horsley Herald Term 4 Week 1
Welcome back to Term 4.
What a fabulous start to the term !
It is wonderful to see all our student return for the last term of 2020 ready for the learning opportunities ahead. There have been some changes to the NSW Department of Education guidelines for activities during Term 4.
We are working hard to ensure that our Year 6 students have a great send off and that we can welcome our new kindergarten families as best we can.
Parents please refer to the Department of Education website in regard to COVID-19 guidelines which are updated regularly.
NSW School Updates app
The NSW School Updates app allows parents and carers to recieve operational status updates for NSW public schools.
The app will complement the other means of communication available to parents and carers from schools and the Department of Education to ensure families receive timely, accurate information in a crisis.
The app is free and available now for iOS and Android users.
You can opt in for notifications about the operational status of as many NSW public schools as you choose.
I am hopeful that although there are a number of restrictions that remain in place, that we will be able to offer some additional opportunities for our students.
While there are a number of restrictions that remain in place for parent and carer involvement in school activities, we again take this opportunity to thank our families for their ongoing understanding and support.
We look forward to the term ahead and working with our students and community as we continue to work together.
Wishing everyone a fabulous and happy term 4.

Studies have shown that mindfulness can help students learn by improving their attention. This means that students are able to take in more information without being distracted by outside sources and preconceived perspectives. Mindfulness improves working memory, reasoning, planning, self-regulation and goal directed behaviours which are essential for learning new skills and information. Practicing mindfulness can also assist in providing strategies to manage anxiety and stress.
The Smiling Mind app and website has some great activities and guided meditation lessons which have shown to have positive effects on students and their mental wellbeing.
Breakfast Club is coming…
This term, Horsley Park Public School will be starting up a Breakfast Club on selected days each week. This initiative is completely free of charge and is available to all Horsley Park Public School students. Breakfast Club aims to provide a nutritious breakfast for students to ensure that they have the energy to learn and focus on the day ahead. More details to come soon!
