Kinder enrolments
If you have not yet enrolled your child for kindergarten next year or you have a friend, relative or neighbour who has a child beginning school in 2021, please ask them to contact the school as soon as possible to complete enrolment.
Kindergarten Orientation
We are looking forward to getting to know families and students beginning school in 2021. Due to the pandemic this will look very different than previous years.
As per the Department of Education advice: ‘Schools have been advised that Kindergarten orientation and transition to school activities remain on hold until further notice.’
We are working on a Kinder Video Package which will be published on our school FB page and school newsletter to engage with students and families prior to starting school next year. The office is making calls to our families who have expressed interest in enrolling for next year and booking in times to meet with me. I am thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to meet our new families and students for next year.
Families who are currently enrolled in kindergaten will recieve a letter shortly about what events and opportunities there will be in term 4 for orientation, as well as starting dates for 2021. Please keep an eye out in your emails for this.
We thank you for your understanding at this time and are happy to answer any questions you may have. Please call the school if you have any questions.
School Improvement Plan 2021-2024
Schools in NSW, have commenced the task of developing a situational analysis in preparation for the development of their next 4 year school plan.
At Horsley Park Public School, we are busy synthesising feedback we have received through parent surveys, student surveys and student leader meetings and feedback from staff. We are looking at our feedback, along with student wellbeing data and student learning data especially in the key areas of Reading and Mathematics, and using all of this data and feedback we are in the process of developing our situational analysis. This will provide us with a benchmark to begin our journey of continued school improvement over the next 4 years. We will keep you informed and consult with the community as we develop our plan for school improvement.
Congratulations Mrs Martin
I am very pleased to announce that as a result of a recent merit selection procedures, Mrs Anne Martin has been offered and accepted the substantive position of Senior Administration Manager, Horsley Park Public School. Mrs Martin has been with us in a relieving capacity and brings a wide range of experiences, knowledge and most importantly greets everyone at the office with her kindness and warm smile. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of selection panel. Anne is delighted with the outcome and looking forward to working with our community with many years to come.
Thought for the week..
ELECTRICITY SAFETY WEEK (ESW) 2020
Last week was Electricity Safety Week and the aim of this week was to teach children to stay safe around electricity both at home and outdoors. Electricity Safety Week is part of Ausgrid’s Public Electrical safety Awareness Program and is aligned with the Science and Technology and PDHPE syllabuses for K-6. You might like to take the time this week to talk to your children about electricity safety around the home as teachers are currently reminding students to stay safe around electricity.
2020 Tell Them From Me Survey
This Term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and enagement.
The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be open until Friday 23rd October at 4:30 pm. Although participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated and will shape our future directions.

A Positive Outlook
Outlook is the third pillar of wellbeing. Our outlook on life plays a big part in the way we think, feel and act. Our brains are like Teflon for the good things that happen and Velcro for the bad things that happen during the day. We often remember the bad or inconvenient things that have happened, and ruminate on these things for days and days. We often forget the good things that happen quite quickly.
Studies have shown that strengthening our outlook takes only a few simple steps before we start seeing the positive impact it has in our lives. Steps include spending time with positive people, being responsible for your behaviours, reading inspirational material and recognising and replacing the negative thoughts we have.

Breakfast Club is coming…
Next term, Horsley Park Public School will be starting up a Breakfast Club on selected days each week. This initiative is completely free of charge and is available to all Horsley Park Public School students. Breakfast Club aims to provide a nutritious breakfast for students to ensure that they have the energy to learn and focus on the day ahead.
We would love to get your feedback and any ideas you might have regarding the implementation of a Breakfast Club. Below is a link to a short survey and we would appreciate your feedback and comments.
