Horsley Herald Term 3 Week 1
Welcome to Term 3!
It's the start of Term 3 with COVID-19 activities still within the community, we must continue to all work together to keep our school safe by promoting good hygiene and physical distancing practices amongst adults, as well as adhering to health advice for students and staff. Please see the 'COVID Update' section for more information.
Attendance
All students should be either:
- at school
- at home because they are currently unwell
- at home because they have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition (or in limited cases where a family member has an ongoing medical condition)
If you believe that your child has a condition which means it's not safe for them to return to school, you will need to provide a medical certificate. These are likely to be children that are at higher risk of severe illness if they contracted COVID-19.
If a student is absent for more than three days without a medical certificate, this will be recorded as an unauthorized absence and followed up by the school. This applies to all students.
Health of Students
If your child is unwell, do not send them to school. As always, if your child is sick then there is no expectation for them to complete any work. If they are unwell at school, you or your nominated emergency contact will need to collect them immediatley. Please make sure your contact details are up to date.
If you need any support for your child to return to school, please contact the school office on 96201301.
COVID Update
Hygiene Measures
The staff of Horsley Park Public School remain vigilant in applying infection control and personal hygiene practices. We continue to promote and encourage regular washing of hands , exclusion of any staff and students who are unwell, avoiding the sharing of food and personal items and cleaning of any shared items such as books, learning and sporting equipment between uses.
All activities permitted at school are safe in living with COVID-19. Schools continue to monitor and plan for any changes in local circumstances that may arise, including changes in health advice or local restrictions.
An enhanced hygienic cleaning process in schools has been implemented in addition to the standard daily clean. Target areas including high-touch areas and other hard surfaces, doors handles, light switches and handrails and movement areas.
Schools are now recieving an additional clean during the day in line wth AHPPC guidelines. This includes cleaning frequently touched areas in bathrooms after recess, as well as replenishing supplies such as soap and hand towels that are provided by the school. High touch surfaces such as balustrades and handrails in the playground are also wiped with disinfectant.
School Activities
What children can do at school:
- Use the school library (it will be open on some days at lunchtime - to be confirmed)
- Engage in non-contact sporting activities
- Play in the playground
- Interact in the classroom
- Some school incursions and excursions can be planned depending on the location of the excursion. (At this stage, due to the Covid situation unfortunately the planned Term 3, Stage 3 camp has been cancelledd. We are looking at an alternative opportunity for our students)
- Inter-school activities. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
- Scripture will not re-commence at this stage.
- Bring a water bottle to drink from instead of the bubblers.
Uniform
Please ensure your children are wearing their school uniforms and have their hat and all items are labelled so we can find the owner if belongings are lost.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate through the complexity if the current COVID situation.
No visitors on site
As per end of last term, we are still not allowing parents on site. We have worked hard to limit visitors to only essential services including Department staff, maintenance contractors and health workers working with students.
As a result we won't be having any public assemblies or functions for the time being. We will start to introduce short assemblies for students and teachers only. We look forward to seeing our community back on site as soon as practical.
Anyone who attends the school office must sign a visitors form.
Staff Development Day Term 3
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you need any further support.
Kind Regards
